'Book of Mormon Images' art exhibit featured at Temple Visitor's Center

ST. GEORGE – The art exhibit of Walter Rane at the Temple Visitors’ Center will begin Friday, October 1. In the tradition of the great masters, brought to life in beautiful reproductions, Walter Rane portrays nineteen scenes which illustrate many of the stories found in the Book of Mormon’s 1000 year history of the early Americas culminating in the ministry of the Lord and Savior on the American continent. The St. George Temple Visitors’ Center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Rane was born and raised in Southern California, where he studied at Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles.  Following graduation, Rane worked as a freelance book and magazine illustrator in the New York area for 21 years with clients that included Random House, Reader's Digest, Time-Life and National Geographic.

In the late 1990's, after moving his family to Salem, Oregon, Rane was invited by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to paint scriptural themes. This opportunity reignited a childhood interest of creating religious paintings in a classical fashion.
