Washington male arrested for assault, stealing prescription medications

WASHINGTON – Officers arrested a 21-year-old Washington male on several charges of assault and interfering with arrest, and one charge of theft.

Ed Kantor, law enforcement division chief for Washington City Public Safety, said the male had allegedly walked into several homes in one neighborhood where he was well known, and stole prescription medications from residents. Police later found prescription medications that did not belong to the male in his clothing.

A code enforcement officer in the neighborhood contacted police, saying the man was acting aggressive and his speech was incoherent.

Kantor said the man was allegedly combative with officers and tried kicking and head butting law enforcement personnel. Officers transported the male to Dixie Regional Medical Center before booking him into Purgatory, Kantor said.

The male allegedly became very aggressive with officers and medical staff at the hospital, and was charged with five separate counts of assault.

Kantor said that because the male would not cooperate with police, they were unable to determine if he was under the influence of drugs.
