Two arrested for smoking ‘spice’

HURRICANE – A 23-year-old male and 18-year-old female, both of St. George, were arrested in Hurricane after allegedly admitting to officers they had smoked “spice.”

The male was initially stopped for a headlight violation and speeding, said Nancy Perkins, spokesperson for the Hurricane Police Department. Officers allegedly found used drug paraphernalia in the car and arrested the man on charges of furnishing tobacco to a minor, headlight violation, speeding, possession of paraphernalia, psycho toxic chemical and a DUI – 2nd offense.

The female, a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly told officers she had smoked spice twice today before her arrest.
Both Hurricane and St. George banned the use and sale of spice last month.
