ST. GEORGE – Officers with the Washington County Drug Task Force discovered evidence of an indoor marijuana grow and equipment for a methamphetamine lab while serving a search warrant Friday evening.
Lt. David Moss said the Task Force received information from a St. George patrol officer two weeks ago, and began investigating 41-year-old Casey Michael Dismuke, who has a previous drug conviction, for allegedly dealing drugs.
Officers served a search warrant at his home, 134 E 100 S, and discovered the chemicals. Dismuke was charged with several felonies of drug possession and cultivation.
“It wasn’t what we were expecting to find,” Moss said. “We served a search warrant for meth, but not a lab.”
Moss said it was possible that the methamphetamine was cooked elsewhere, but because Dismuke had the chemicals and equipment at the home, he was charged with a first-degree felony.
He said methamphetamine labs are dangerous because they have a tendency to cause an explosion and catch fire.
Moss said officers collected evidence that the marijuana grow did take place inside the apartment.
He said marijuana grows can also be very dangerous, especially inside a home, and in the past, officers have had to wear a breathing aspirates to be protecting.
“When you’re in the room or area that the grow is in, marijuana has spores that are in the air and can be harmful to breath in,” he said.
While officers were collecting evidence of the grow, 37-year-old Steven Christensen of Washington, allegedly came to the residence with drugs. Officers arrested him for drug and paraphernalia possession.
The Task Force arrested a 37-year-old St. George male yesterday evening for possession after neighbors tipped off police.
Moss said Jason Ashby Huffman was arrested after officers began investigating him for allegedly dealing drugs.

This is Casey Dismuke and I would like a chance to dispute these claims here stated.
First, the so called meth lab I was charged with was actually just three boxes of unopened matches and some paint thinner I used to touch up my apt. The matches can be considered a meth precursor, so pretty much everyone is guilty of that!- These were dismissed in court.
Second, there was no marijuana being grown in the apt. or in a grow room. The police found empty planters and a light not plugged in and no plants and no soil.- These were also dismissed in court.
What you have here is the work of a very uneducated and over zealous task force trying to get a bust!
I was charged with possession of a controlled substance as it was found inside my apt.
It was not mine, but because it was found in my apt, it was charged to me.
