1150 W in Hurricane closed due to flooding

HURRICANE – Traffic is being diverted away from 1150 West in Hurricane after police officers closed the roadway because of high water flows.

Hurricane Police Chief Lynn Excell said the road, which serves as a corridor between SR-9 and 400 South, was closed at 10 p.m. Monday. It will remain closed until further notice.

“Officers will also be watching potential flood areas throughout the night,” said Excell, adding the public should exercise caution while driving and stay on improved roads. The Virgin River is flowing at extremely high levels and is expected to continue rising, he noted.

A flash flood warning remains in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday, with heavy rainfall expected to contribute to the possibility of more flooding throughout Washington County.
