Southern Utah road conditions, road closures

(St. George, Utah) —The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises travelers of the wet and icy conditions in Southern Utah this morning.

Roads are wet in St. George this morning and snow continues to fall north and east of the city, while areas of patchy ice are expected to continue to develop due to high winds and colder temperatures.

Snowplows are sanding roads following an evening of snowfall that extended into Utah’s Dixie.

Authorities were forced to close I-15 from the Hurricane turn-off at Exit 16 to milepost 35 north of Pintura for a few hours as trucks struggled on the climb up the Black Ridge.

White-out conditions were reported yesterday evening on portions of I-15 between Nephi and Cedar City.

S.R. 14 remains closed this morning from milepost 5 east of Cedar City to the Long Valley Junction.

Commuters are cautioned to drive at speeds appropriate for winter road conditions to facilitate continued maintenance efforts on the interstates.
