U.S. Navy Blue Angels to Perform

ST. GEORGE – Thunder Over Utah Air Show officials were notified today that the United States Navy Blue

Angels will appear on March 17th & 18th, 2012 at the newly created Thunder Over Utah Air Show in St. George,

Utah. The show will be held at the new St. George Municipal Airport, which is slated to open in January 2011.

The Blue Angels are known for their precision formation flying and are a crowd favorite throughout the

world.

Flying their six distinctive blue and gold F-18 Hornets, the Blue Angels are ambassadors for the United

States Navy and Marine Corps. This is the first time in history that the Blue Angels will bring their adrenaline-

rushing performance to picturesque southern Utah.

The air show, which is expected to bring more than $2.5 million in economic impact to the southern Utah

area, has been fully embraced by the St. George City Council, the St. George Airport Authority and the St. George

Convention and Visitor Bureau.

The new St. George Airport (SGU) will feature a 9,300 ft. runway capable of accommodating regional jet

aircraft, 737’s and Airbus 319’s that will be able to carry passengers to Salt Lake City and a number of other

regional destinations currently not available. The airport is served by Skywest Airlines, who is headquartered in St.

George.

The Thunder Over Utah Air Show is being produced by Wingman Events, a full – service air show

management and production company, and is being underwritten by the Yankee Air Museum, an internationally-

known aviation museum and historical society based in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

amount of energy and excitement within the community as we discuss what is sure to be one of Utah’s top family

activities of the year.”

The Blue Angels will headline what will be a sensational lineup of the top air show acts on the circuit. In

addition to the Blue Angels, top-tier civilian and military performers, classic warbirds, as well as a full slate of static

displays and kid-friendly attractions will be announced soon.

Tickets for the show will go on sale in early 2011, corporate participation/sponsor programs are now
