LA VERKIN – A 20-year-old La Verkin man was tased and arrested over the weekend after accosting patrons at Farmer’s Market, as well as showing himself to a young child and slamming his girlfriend’s head through a window.

Chief Lloyd Watkins said the man had been drinking when he got into an argument with his girlfriend. The man allegedly pushed her head through a window, then kicked her repeatedly after she fell to the ground. The man then allegedly crossed the street to Farmer’s Market and accosted and assaulted patrons in the parking lot.

“He assaulted them, then dropped his pants in front of the crowd,” Watkins said.

A 13-year-old child was present at the time.

Officers responded to the area and the man then allegedly fled from officers who followed him on foot. Watkins said it was dark and the man held one arm behind his back and officers were unsure if the man had a weapon. After asking the man several times to comply, an officer tased him, Watkins said.

Medics treated the girlfriend but she was not transported to the hospital.

The man was charged with lewdness, disorderly conduct, intoxication, minor consumption, interfering with arrest, failure to stop at an officer’s command, three counts of assault, domestic violence and unlawful detention, criminal mischief, and aggravated assault. The man also had two warrants for his arrest.
