ZION NATIONAL PARK – Three hikers who went missing in Zion National Park may have been found safe in The Subway earlier this evening. Zion spokesperson David Eaker said a woman hiking The Subway today identified the three missing hikers.
“This was reported from a woman who came out earlier this evening,” Eaker said. “We feel fairly confident that her identification of these people are the ones we are looking for.”
Evgenia Bruzulukova, 25, of Roy, and Jonathon Wilson, 28, of Portland, Ore., had a day permit for Russell Gulch and the Left Fork of North Creek (The Subway) and have been missing since Saturday. Thirty-seven year old David Balkcom of Salt Lake City was listed as an overdue hiker after he didn’t return last night.
Eaker said Balkcom was in good shape and was expected to hike out on his own tonight. Bruzulukova and Wilson were “pretty beat up” with non-life threatening injuries. Eaker said those two might be airlifted out tonight.
