St. George Man Arrested on Aggravated Cruelty to Animal Charge, Evidence Tampering

ST. GEORGE – A 21-year-old St. George man is in jail after his roommate’s say the man killed their cat.

Officer Johnny Heppler said police were called to the area of 700 N Valley View Drive late last night after a male and female found their missing cat in the neighbor’s garbage can. They claim their roommate drowned the cat.

Heppler said the roommate initially denied killing the cat or having any information in the cat’s disappearance. However, later the roommate allegedly admitted to finding the cat inside the home already dead, and throwing it away.

Heppler said officers found the same type of garbage bags used to dispose of the cat in the roommate’s possession. They also found a wet towel and other evidence in the roommate’s closet.

The man was arrested on charges of aggravated cruelty and evidence tampering. As of 1 p.m. on Tuesday, he had not posted bail.
