He Said She Said: How Do I End It?

I’ve been seeing this girl for a just a couple months. I like hanging out with her, she’s really fun and she’s a nice girl. I just don’t see it going anywhere and I’m not sure how to end it.

He Said:

Well you don’t necessarily have to completely end things, however you do need to keep things from progressing beyond friendship.

If you think she might be thinking it could go somewhere, then you should share with her how you feel and let her decide.  If you are honest with her about your feelings, then hopefully she will understand, even if it hurts.  You never know, she might be thinking the same way.

If, on the other hand, you don’t want to see her or even try to have a friendship, then you just simply need to let her know before spending any more time with her.

She Said:

It’s rare but possible to still hang out and be friends if she is the kind of girl who calls maybe once or twice a week, and doesn’t appear to be too interested in planning the rest of her life with you.

However, if she’s calling you every day, wanting to schedule multiple dates, gives you that “look” with her eyes when she sees you – get out.

Women have a tendency to see people for what they can be, not for what they are. So if you keep being friends with her, she will assume (or delude herself into thinking) you will eventually feel for her the way she feels about you and that she can change your opinion about the relationship.

The best way to do it since it hasn’t been a long relationship is to simply give her a call and tell her you don’t see it going anywhere. Keep the conversation under five minutes, and don’t see her again (not even as friends) for several months.

If you keep hanging out with her, you will be leading her on and you will be known as “one of them.” Continuing to spend time with her and talking to her will give her false hope and wastes both of your time.

Give her distance to get over you and move on, instead of stealing her focus from dating someone else who might be better suited for her.
