unsolved casesWASHINGTON COUNTY – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Unsolved Cases website has proven successful so far.

Detective Nate Abbott said the department has seen an increase in anonymous email tips that have led them in the right direction, or given them exact details of where alleged fugitives are hiding out.

Many of the unsolved cases currently online are stolen credit cards from local residents. Those credit cards were then used at local stores and the suspects pictures were captured and posted on the site.

They have also seen an increase in anonymous tips that have led them to Washington County’s Most Wanted, he said.

Abbott said a partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service has also led to several arrests, including one fugitive who was hiding in Texas while wanted in Washington County for possessing child pornography.

Abbott asked that anyone with information on the alleged suspects contact the sheriff’s office by phone, 435-656-6500, or email, [email protected].
