Transportation Expo to inform public of road projects

ST. GEORGE – The Dixie Regional Transportation Expo returns to inform the public of road projects that will impact their communities.

The expo is free to the public and is designed to keep the public informed of current and ongoing projects that the Utah Department of Transportation is in charge of.

The event is funded by Southern Utah communities who rent a space to display information directed to the individual communities concerning projects where officials need public input.

“[Projects going on in the community] UDOT requires [communities] to get public input,” said Mariam Palma, public works office manager.

Also UDOT consultants will be present to provide information on current projects like the Southern Parkway connecting to S. R. 18 and Riverside Drive reconstruction, Palma said.

“We have had many as 1200 people and as few as 800 attend:” Palma said. “It depends on what projects we have going on. People must be very interested in what’s going on and want to keep the city good.”

The Dixie Regional Transportation Expo returns for its eighth consecutive year to the Dixie Convention Center Ballroom, 1835 S. Convention Center Drive, Feb. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
