Flood Aid 2012 benefit concert, auction for Santa Clara flood victims

SANTA CLARAFlood Aid 2012 is a benefit concert, auction and family festival to raise money for the families affected by the recent flooding disaster in Santa Clara. The benefit is Saturday,  Sept. 29, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Snow Canyon High School, adjacent to the football field to help our friends and neighbors and rally together as a community.

Headlining the event will be The Sam Payne Project, and will also feature Lyndy Butler, The Lawn Darts, and Steve Lemmon and Ryan Tilby.

Flood Aid 2012 is a community gathering and people can attend regardless of how much or how little they can contribute. There will be donation boxes at every entrance to the field and it is asked that each person give as much as they can. All the proceeds from the evening’s festivities will go directly to the non-profit account established to benefit the victims of the recent floods. Anyone who would like more information on the management and distribution of the funds may contact Michael Day at the law firm of Durham, Jones & Pinegar.

Every person in attendance will receive a ticket that can be dropped in a bucket on stage. Several times an hour, a ticket will be drawn from the bucket and a prize will be given away. These prizes include gift certificates for local restaurants, toys, and other items. Also, each person entering who donates $5 or more, will receive a wristband that says, “I Am A Santa Clara Hero.”

For those seeking even greater treasures,  a live auction and a silent auction will be held throughout the evening. A real auctioneer is coming in for the event and will ensure that everyone has a great time bidding on lots of wonderful items that have been donated by event sponsors. Some of the items will be auctioned in the live auction, and others will be auctioned in a silent auction that will be set up on the field. All items will be available for viewing at the event.

A list of items to be auctioned can be found here.

There will be lots of food to enjoy while listening to the great music. Vendors will offer dinner items as well as sweet treats.

Don’t forget to bring the kids. Fun Time Inflatables will be bringing four different bounce houses for children to play on and will be donating a large percentage of their profits to the victims of the floods.

Anyone interested in volunteering to work at the event, or helping with one of the myriad tasks that need to be accomplished prior to Sept. 29, please contact the volunteer coordinator, Mauri Bolander, at [email protected].

Anyone also interested in donating an item to our auction please contact the event coordinator, Tamara Lemmon, at [email protected]

I really like it when a community rallies to help those in need. It’s always a good time to attend sponsored events or that you know everyone there is there for the same reason.
