TOQUERVILLE – Washington County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home on South Toquerville Blvd. in Toquerville Saturday evening.

“Deputies were dispatched to a family fight here in Toquerville at about 6:10 p.m.,”  Sgt. Jake Adams of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said. ” The situation has thus changed to where it is a barricaded person now that we’re dealing with.”

Negotiators and a SWAT team were called to the scene and were working on resolving the incident as peacefully as possible, Adam’s said at 9:15 p.m.

The person barricaded in the home is believed to be the only occupant in the home. Adams said he is not at liberty to say whether any guns or arms are involved.

When asked if there were children involved, Adams said, “We do not believe this is a hostage situation at this point; so no, I do not believe that there are any children in the residence.”

Personnel from the Utah Department of Transportation were also on location, rerouting traffic down Hafen Lane to Cholla Creek Road through a residential neighborhood between Toquerville and LaVerkin and back up to state Route 17.

At about 10 p.m. the incident was ongoing.

That guy was, I am told, busted last year for running a drug lab. How does he get to stay in that house, in that neighborhood? Incomprehensible to me….
