ST. GEORGE – Assistant professor of history, Dr. Joel A. Lewis, will present “History & the Culture Wars,” at Thursday’s Dixie Forum: “A Window on the World” convocation series.
The Dixie State Colleg of Utah forum will begin at noon in the Dunford Auditorium of the Browning Resource Center on campus, open to all.
Thursday’s presentation is based off a keynote speech Lewis delivered at the Utah Academy of Sciences, Art & Letters Awards Conference held last year in Salt Lake City.
Lewis earned his Ph.D. in Transnational and Comparative History at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to teaching at Dixie State, Lewis taught American, European, and world history at Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University. In addition, he is an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church, performing marriage ceremonies for nondenominational and inter-faith couples throughout the United States.
The Dixie Forum series 2013 spring semester will feature historical topics ranging from civil rights, military conflicts and the arts. Next Thursday’s forum will feature civil rights presentation by University of Nevada, Las Vegas, assistant professor of history, Dr. Todd E. Robinson
