Easter in Southern Utah brings offerings of celebration and remembrance for all

ST. GEORGE – Now through Easter Sunday community events offer residents and visitors an array of opportunities to celebrate this spring holiday of remembrance in whimsical and spiritual ways. Here are some of them:

Friday – Saturday St. George Art Festival

•  City of St. George holds its 34th Annual Art Festival in the Town Square – Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

One of the city’s premiere events, the Art Festival offers a full schedule of music and activities, artists, vendors and more.

•  Gems of the Desert Quilt Show at the Dixie Center at the Dixie Center St. George – Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. $5

Friday

•  3rd Annual Easter Egg Hunt brought by Planet 94.1 and Findlay Automotive Group – 10 a.m. Findlay Auto, 1333 Sunland Dr., St. George, Ut 84790

Bring your kids ages 0-10 years old for this fun Easter event. Get a free four picture photo strip courtesy of Funny Face Photo Booth. The Easter Bunny will be present along with the Kia Hamsters! 0-3 year olds will participate on the lot of Findlay Subaru/Hyundai. 4-7 year olds will participate on the lot of Findlay KIA. 8-10 year olds will participate on the    lot of Findlay Volkswagen. Must bring your own basket.

•  Stations of The Cross – 11 a.m. Bluff Street Park

Organized by the St. George Catholic Church and supported by the St. George Interfaith Council, Good Friday’s one-hour walk through 14 Stations of the Cross, depicting the final hours of the life of Jesus before his crucifixion, will run from the Bluff Street Park at the top of Diagonal Street. Church leaders will read short texts describing the event as each of the stations. A cross will be carried from station to station until it finally comes to rest at the Catholic Church where St. George Catholic Church’s Father Martin will read the final station description.

•  Polynesian Easter Music – 7 p.m. St. George Tabernacle

Saturday  

•  Ivins Easter Egg Hunt – 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast

Held every year at Unity Park, 400 South between 200 West and 400 West, on the large baseball/soccer field, it begins at 7:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Ivins City Volunteer Firefighters Association. Proceeds help the City Volunteer Firefighters Association purchase needed equipment.Cost: $3.00 per person and $15.00 for family up to 8. All participants in the Easter Egg hunt must provide their own Easter Basket.

•  City of Hurricane Easter Egg Hunt – 9 a.m. in Hurricane

Children 8 years old and under can come gather Easter eggs this year at a new location, the Fields at Three Falls Elementary, 789 S. 700 W., Hurricane Utah

•   Laverkin City Easter Egg Hunt – 9 a.m. in Laverkin

Wanlass Park is the location for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, it is for children ages 0 – 9 years old. Come witness the modern Easter miracle where candy that took hours to put down will be picked up in seconds. 355 North Main St.,  Laverkin, Utah 84745

•  Cedar City Easter Egg Hunt – 9 a.m. in Cedar City

The Easter Bunny arriving at 8:45am so be sure to arrive early, held at the Cedar City Main Street Park, corner of 200 North and Main Street, meet the Easter Bunny and take part in the Easter Egg Hunt with over 15,000 eggs.

•  Parowan Easter Egg Hunt  – 10 a.m. in Parowan

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by The Little Salt Lake Club, will be held at the Valentine Peak Sport Complex. The children will be divided into age groups. The event is free. Donations gratefully accepted and appreciated. Valentine Peak Complex. 500 East 200 North, Parowan, Utah 84761.

•  Enterprise City Easter Egg Hunt – 10 a.m. in Enterprise

The event will be held at Enterprise Little League Field for 11-year-olds and younger. Money donations are taken at Cottonwood, Carter’s and Bracken’s. Donations go toward the candy for the children.

•  Annual Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt – 10 a.m. at the Veterans Park

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt presented by the Washington City Lions Club will be held at Veterans Park, 111 North 100 East, Washington.  The event is free for children 10 and under. Bring your own basket.

•  Dive-in Egg Hunt – 11 a.m. Sand Hollow Aquatic Center – A City of St. George Recreation event

•  Rotary Easter Car Show returns for its 28th year in the Hurricane Valley, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hurricane Valley. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Easter Sunday (and Monday)

•  Nondenominational Easter services – 8 and 11 a.m. at Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivins

There will be 8 a.m and 11 a.m. services, including a balance of contemporary worship in music and song and a resurrection message from the Bible.

A special children’s service will be held during the 11 a.m. hour.  Kindergarten-6th grade ages will enjoy a blessed time of music, interactive dynamic teaching, games and snacks. Located inside the dance studio portion of Tuacahn’s facilities.

•  Easter Sunday Master Singers Easter Concert – 7 p.m. at The Heritage Center Theater in Cedar City

•  Southern Utah Heritage Choir will present “Fairest Lord Jesus” an Easter Musical Celebration  Sunday and Monday 7:00 p.m. at the St. George Tabernacle .

    The Southern Utah Heritage Choir will present two Easter Programs. Easter Sunday, March 31st, and Monday, April 1st, beginning at 7:00 PM at the St. George Tabernacle – Admission is free.
