UPDATE 6:15 p.m. The motorcyclists are alert and conscious,St. George Police Sgt. Curtis Spragg said after speaking with them at the hospital; they appear to have suffered bumps and bruises but no serious injuries.
ST. GEORGE – Two people were injured and transported to the hospital after a car ran a red light and collided with a motorcycle Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred at the intersection of River Road and Riverside Drive shortly after 4 p.m.
St. George Police Officer James Schafer said a motorcycle carrying two people was travelling eastbound on Riverside Drive through the intersection when a silver passenger car travelling northbound on River Road ran a red light and the motorcycle hit the side-rear of the car.
The man and woman who had been riding the motorcycle were taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center. Schafer was unable to give a statement on the condition of either individual or the extent of possible injuries.
The car’s driver and passengers were unharmed.
The driver of the silver passenger car was cited in the incident.
Additional police officers were on hand to direct traffic through the intersection until the scene was cleared by 5 p.m.

Something’s not right. If the directions given in the article are correct, the impact would have been on the car’s passenger side.
You give us a little mind teaser, Billion. So I checked: The officer’s statement said the motorcycle hit the side-rear of the car, he did not say which side.
I was driving threw that intersection immediatly after the accident when cops weren’t even there yet, looks horrible, bike parts were everywhere!
The passengers on the motorcycle were heading eastbound on Riverside Drive and the silver car was heading North on Road, resulting in impact on the driver’s side of the car.
Indeed, the alleged directions of travel don’t make sense for the dent in the car. On the bright side, the motorcyclists are okay, according to the update. Their bike, on the other hand, looks to be a total loss.
Mystery Solved! There’s a photo showing the rear driver side of the vehicle with damage.
Even more solved – our reporter has determined the directions were reversed; those are now corrected: The directions of travel, motorcycle eastbound and car northbound have been corrected.
