Flash flood warning for Kane, Washington counties

SALT LAKE CITY – The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a flash flood warning for northeastern Kane County and east-central Washington County, effective until 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Conditions: Heavy rain and thunderstorms are projected over eastern Washington through northeastern Kane counties. The strongest storms are centered over Zion National Park. Flash flooding will impact most of the slot canyons and creeks in and near the national park.

Time:: 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday

Areas affected: Northeastern Kane County and east-central Washington County

Precautionary/preparedness actions: Do not drive into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, back roads and farmland along the banks of waterways.

Turn around, don’t drown.
