LAS VEGAS — Big plays helped the Snow Canyon Warriors run away with a 25-6 win at Shadow Ridge High School Friday night.
A 27-yard interception return for a touchdown by the SC defense and a 67-yard TD run by Zach Kennedy gave the Warriors a 19-point cushion in the third quarter that they would not relinquish.
Snow Canyon obtained an early lead as Warner Rigby and Sam Slivers both scored rushing touchdowns from four yards and one yard out, respectively, in the first half.
The Warriors went up 13-0 before the Mustangs connected on a 76-yard TD pass from Dustin Puia to J. Henderson, making the halftime score 13-6.
The pick-six, just a minute into the second half, changed the tone of the game and Kennedy’s long run five minutes later turned the contest into a blowout.
Snow Canyon held the Mustangs scoreless in the second half and has only allowed six points in eight quarters of football this season. SC gained 327 total yards of offense, thanks to solid rushing performances by Kennedy and Slivers.
The Mustangs matched that number with 331 yards of their own, but turned the ball over twice and consistently came up short on fourth down. Shadow Ridge was 0 for 7 on fourth down conversions.
Brady Sargent led the Warriors defense with 10 tackles. Sophomore Richmond Anderson had one of the Warriors two interceptions.
The Warriors improved their record to 2-0 while Shadow Ridge drops to 0-1. SC has a bye next week and will prepare to host crosstown rival Pine View (2-0) on September 13.

THANK YOU THANK YOU STGNEW.COM for always the best coverage & articles following our High School Sports
Specifically today, Football…..
My husband opened the Spectrum this morning to read about Snow Canyon vs. Shadow Ridge’s game last night. He read big articles on every other school but not SCH. (Have YOU looked at the Spectrums coverage today?, go ahead read & compare against all the other HS coverage)
Went to the standings & scores section to even find the score, due to the fact it wasn’t even mentioned in the few lines written about the game. That score was the Only thing mentioned there…..???
“Let me pull up STGNews they will have coverage” And like always I was right 🙂 YOU Guys are AWESOME!!!
Thank YOU so much, Lori.
You just made this editor’s eyes well up. I am awfully proud of our sports team, too.
Deeply touched by your graciousness, and Burke Rigby’s too,

I agree with Lori Bawden’s post! Andy Griffin and StGNews.com have consistently delivered great coverage of every school regardless of where or who they are playing. Thanks for all you do!
I guees there is always someone not happy. I was dissappointed not to see any coverage on Cedar and Canyon View game. Disappointing, but not surprising. And while the Spectrum covered it, there was no box score just like Canyon View. And while I understand this is “St. George News” I have been a faithful reader because of high school coverage, Not any more.
