GRAND CANYON, Ariz. – Grand Canyon National Park has started road improvements on Cape Royal Road on the North Rim. It is now closed through the end of the Grand Canyon’s 2013 season.
Heavy monsoonal weather and construction activities required the immediate closure of the road to ensure visitor and worker safety. Effective immediately, Cape Royal Road from the Y to the terminus at Cape Royal will be closed to all vehicle traffic through the end of the season in mid-October.
All other roads, including Point Imperial Road, remain open to vehicle traffic through the end of the season. Point Imperial is the highest point on the North Rim and overlooks the Painted Desert and the eastern end of the Grand Canyon.
For more information about the North Rim, visit the park website.
