ST. GEORGE — A man was arrested by the Washington County Drug Task Force after a search warrant was executed in the area of 200 West 300 North in St. George Thursday.
According to the probable cause statement filed by police, Layton Duane Baker, 18, of St. George, was arrested after task force detectives searched his bedroom and found several different containers of “green leafy plant material” suspected to be marijuana. About two ounces of marijuana was seized during the investigation, St. George Police Capt. Kyle Whitehead said.
Detectives also found a digital scale, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia including pipes, a water bong and containers with suspected marijuana residue. Baker admitted to possessing and using marijuana and stated that he “hooks up” a few people with marijuana, according to the statement.
Baker was booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility charged with second-degree felony drug distribution in a drug free zone and class-A misdemeanor use or possession of drug paraphernalia, both charges being enhanced because they were within about 600 feet of a church. Bail was set at $13,700.

Why did you bust someone for Marijuana? There are kids dying of heroin overdoses and who are getting hooked on methemphetamines. But the StGPD are worried about weed. Wow, as a citizen of my his town I’m quite disappointed in your lack of trying to solve a real drug problem…
Agreed
Also agree.. heroin is so bad in St George.. SO BAD the cops have no clue what so ever. I moved because of it. I lived in St George for 20 years but when 3 of your friend die from it and another 6 people you know are about to die from it you need to get the hell out of there… and when a random stranger asked if i know where i can get “skag” from I’m out of there.
These cops are just as ridiculous as those that fought the war on alcohol. They are on the wrong side of history.
“Baker admitted to possessing and using marijuana and stated that he “hooks up” a few people with marijuana”
And with that statement it went from a minor possession offence to a felony and prison time.
