ST. GEORGE — A man went in to see “Non-Stop” at 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday at St. George’s Megaplex Pineview Stadium Theater, at 2376 East Red Cliffs Drive, and fell asleep during the movie. As the cleaning crew went in to clear the theater around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday they saw the man who they apparently thought was dead and called 911, Sgt. Sam Despain said.
“The building was technically closed at that point and they were following regular procedure,” Jeff Whipple, vice president of marketing for Megaplex Theaters said. “After the movie ends, if they come across someone they are to call dispatch …. We have a great relationships with dispatch. We have guests that fall asleep in movies all the time but usually their parents carry them out.”
There was no medical emergency and responders woke up the man who went to the bathroom, splashed water on his face and left, Whipple said.

It was my blind date. {{sigh}} where are all the men who enjoy dating and have had enough sleep to keep up with me? I just left him there.
wow
What a waste of our resources. Is there no one there that knows how to check for a pulse? Another person with a serious medical condition could have needed them more than a man sleeping. I think the employees need some further training.
You expect some theater worker being paid jack to go and check to see if someone is actually dead or not? Even if the person is just sleeping – who knows how they’ll react when they’re approached? Does this really happen often enough that it necessitates spending time and money on training workers who are only going to be there for a year or 2 in the name of not ‘wasting our resources’? The mere fact that there’s an entire news article on this one instance tells me ‘no’.
I am concerned that the staff is not able/trained to determine between someone who is sleeping and someone who is dead.
The movie didn’t put him to sleep…he just wanted to actually read the Count my Vote petition (22 pages) before he signed it….If he was dead, they would have forged his name….
There must not be an App for an iphone that checks a pulse.
Roll and M-80 under his chair. If he doesn’t move, he is likely dead. If he does move, he will likely be deaf, and you will possibly be dead. 😀
News in St george everyone!
