HURRICANE – Two men were transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center after a white Dodge truck collided with a semitrailer, Tuesday afternoon near Brentwood Bowling center in the intersection at 3766 West 150 North in Hurricane.
According to an eye witness, a yellow and black semi pulling an empty flatbed trailer was headed westbound out of Hurricane and was making a left-hand turn onto Sand Hollow Road, at which point a white Dodge truck, heading eastbound, collided with the semitrailer, Hurricane City Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said.
The driver and passenger of the Dodge truck, both male, were injured by the collision and were transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center. The driver of the semitrailer was unharmed, Buell said.
“Traffic was delayed for about an hour,” Buell said. “The Dodge truck had to be towed.”
The accident was reported at approximately 4:20 p.m. The Hurricane City Police, Hurricane City Fire, Utah Highway Patrol and one state park ranger responded to the scene and helped assist traffic flow east and westbound on state Route 9.
The cause of this accident is still under investigation.

Those stupid traffic lights.. How many more people need to die, get injured before some UDOT traffic Einstein finally figures out traffic lights on 55 mph highways won’t ever be safe… Compounding matters, State 9 is one of the busiest roads in So.Utah.. Pull your heads out UDOT, State 9 needs exits, traffic lights no.. Putting in exits will save lives, speed up the commute, and as an added bonus, maybe Hurricane can get rid of a couple cops..
I agree…exits are very expensive but work a lot better. But intell then, people need to pay atention and understand how those lights work.
Drivers need to be patient and aware. I drive SR9 everyday to and from St George and the road is full of unaware, impatient idiots. For all you dumb a$$es with your name and number plastered on your car, you better think twice before you drive like a moron. I doubt the person you cut off or tailgated will be using your services anytime soon.
No problem with the lights. It is a driver problem. Speed enforcement is almost constant on sr9 , but it still moves at 10 over most of the time. Try going the speed limit in the 50 zone near the river and see what happens
you don’t know what happened. please respect me and my family.
All y’all need to shut up! it was a problem with the lights, not the drivers.
My cousins are not the problem nor the reason of the accident.
You guys are jerks! The drivers were not the cause of the accident. The lights were a few seconds late and they happened to crash! Mind your own business!!!
So the lights caused the accident? What….were the lights speeding? Or were they causing some sort of traffic hazard? So the drivers were just cruising along and the lights jumped out in front of them and caused an accident. Those darned lights, they need to stay off the highway. Many more drivers would be safer if the lights did not get on SR-9 and try to compete with traffic. Ban lights!!
I hear its a new epidemic…lights suddenly appearing out of nowhere causing mass chaos throughout all of Southern Utah
U guys can shut up
Yeah, we can….but we won’t.
I see a semi ahead of me turning across my lane of traffic but the light says I can go. Should I maybe slow down a bit or keep going…hmmm?
Duh!
The Utah way is to blast through the light regardless of what color it is. After all, “the lord” will protect me…
Look at all the idiots on here defending people because they are friends or relatives. This is the major reason that crashes happen. Instead of calling stupid, STUPID, they go into instant defense mode. Rather than looking at a situation and trying to learn from it, all they can do is make excuses. Must all be a bunch of inbreeds. . .
You guys are judgers. I know for a fact that you have pulled out your phone while you were driving just to check the time. Quit judging, you don’t know what happened. You also could be offending the poeple in the crash.
Isn’t the purpose of being able to comment on a story the chance for readers to cast judgment and opinion? I think so. Why else would they have it? It is also pretty ballsy of you to declare you “know for a fact”. You absolutely cannot know that and that makes you even more stupid for having said that.
Dh was there 4mins after the accident was called in. Too close for our comfort. Both of us are hoping the 2 men will be ok.
We both have noticed how people rod too fast on that road all the time. As for me, I like to observe the speed limit. It saves gas. So any1 who cares to go faster than the speed limit kindly move over sooner rather than later. I don’t want you speed DeMonS to rip my bumper off. Thank you in advance.
Wow it’s AMAZING that traffic light would malfunction that one time all day causing this accident. Then it goes right back to working just fine…. That’s just cray cray
Whatever. I’m just going to drop it, you people can think what you want. I’m done with you guys.
All you people are exactly why I hate society.
And you people are exactly why I hate people….
I’m sure society hates you back.
People should realize that everything happens for a reason, it doesnt matter if it was the lights or the driver. all that matters is that everyone is ok. everyone has a different opinion about it, but the fact is is that if you werent there then you shouldnt be assuming what happened. please just have some respect, jus sayin. thanks
you guys are pathetic how in the … do you know what happend. where you there no!!! i dont think so shut up tell you know the story
Ed. ellipsis
Been speaking English long, Kay?
“ITSMY LIFE” and “KAY’S.DEN” know what they are talking about. the rest of you don’t.
Everything happens for a reason? So what would the reason be this time, not paying attention or too impatient?
I was there… A completely avoidable accident for sure…
Interesting… now the plot thickens. I bet the people defending the accident will change their tune.
WOW, the comments here 😀
No, I haven’t “changed my tune”, idiots, why don’t you just let it go? My … you hold a grudge like a child.
Ed. ellipsis.
“IT-S_ME” is totally right! The comments have made me decide who I want to go with and that person is “IT-S_ME”
Come on, “SOUT4LIFE”! You are so fricken annoying, GROW UP!
Not talkin’, huh?
