SALT LAKE CITY – Gov. Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of the Flag of the United States of America and the Flag of the State of Utah on Thursday in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Gov. Herbert issued the following statement:

We honor the brave law enforcement officers who have fallen or been injured in the line of duty. We are ever grateful to them and their families for their courage, sacrifice and dedication in protecting this great nation and upholding the law.

The flags shall be flown at half-staff on all state facilities from sunrise to sunset Thursday.
