Dylan File named MVP as Region 9 coaches release 2014 all-star baseball team

ST. GEORGE — Desert Hills senior pitcher Dylan File was named the Region 9 Most Valuable Player and the Thunder also [laced five other players on the all-league first and second teams in a list released today by region-champion coach Jerry Beck.

File, known for his 90-mile an hour fastball as well as his hitting prowess, led Desert Hills to a 9-3 region record and a second-place finish st the 3A State Tournament. DH lost in the championship game 8-7 to Grantsville.

File was 7-2 on the season, with five saves and the senior righty struck out 123 batters in 66 and two-thirds innings while compiling a 0.63 earned run average. He also hit .400 at the plate (34 for 85) and led the team with 36 runs batted in. Scouts from several Major League teams have expressed interest in drafting File in the upcoming MLB Draft.

Evan Moss and Clay Gardner also were first-teamers for Desert Hills. The rest of the All-Region first team are Dakota Donovan of Pine View, Clint Gates and Tyler Wardell of Snow Canyon, Zack Brinkerhoff, Payton Higgins and Keaton Kringlen of Canyon View, Braxton Ipson of Dixie and Kaden Lunt, Rykker Tom and Brock Esplin of Cedar.

    Congratulations to Dylan File. It’s great to hear about someone who has worked so hard for the accomplishments he’s made in his young life. From what I hear he is headed for great things and I, for one, will be following him in the national leagues. Good luck to you Dylan.
