WASHINGTON COUNTY – The National Weather Service has issued a “Red Flag Warning” for much of Washington County. This is a “critical fire conditions” alert that is in effect from 1-10 p.m. Tuesday for wind and relative low humidity.
Affected area
Fire Weather Zones 497 – Mojave Desert (see map insert).
Winds
Southwest winds 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph will develop Tuesday afternoon and continue into the evening.
Relative humidity
Relative humidity values between 4 and 8 percent Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Impacts
The combination of strong winds and low relative humidity is expected to create hazardous fire weather conditions where fuels are critically dry.
Precautionary, preparedness actions
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring now or will shortly.
