ST. GEORGE – Calvary Chapel St. George will tackle the topics of religion and science at Creation Weekend, a three-day event open to the public that will cover much-debated subjects ranging from evolution to dinosaurs. Taking place Saturday through Monday, Creation Weekend will explore scientific theories from a biblical standpoint.
The event kicks off Saturday with “Creation Conference,” taking place from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 3922 S. Pioneer Road. The following sessions will be hosted:
- 9-10 a.m. “The Pillars of Evolution”
- 10:15-11:15 a.m. “The Horror of the Flood!”
- 1-1:50 p.m. “Grand Canyon: The Puzzle on the Plateau”
- 2-3 p.m. “They Mystery of the Dinosaurs”
- 3:30-4:30 p.m. “Aunt Lucy?”
Sunday services will revolve around the theme “The Return to Genesis” and will take place at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Calvary Chapel and at 6 p.m. at Southland Bible Church, 195 E. Arrowweed Way in Washington.
Monday, the conference will conclude with “Creation Vision for Southern Utah,” taking place at 7 p.m. The location for this event is still to be determined, according to information from Calvary Chapel St. George. At this concluding event, Mike Snavely and Debbie Schroeder will unveil the floor plans for a hands-on, experiential Creation Discovery Center to be located in the Zion National Park area.
Admission for Creation Weekend is free, and all are welcome.

For some reason I’m thinking that’ll be about 100% religion and 0% science…

Those subjects aren’t much debated – there’s complete and utter scientific consensus. The only way it could be called a ‘debate’ is in the same way that a small child ‘debates’ with their parents whether or not there’s a monster under the bed.
Here is a link from the Institute for Creation Research which is composed of Masters degree and PHD level scientists who believe in creation. There are many scientific papers on their webpage ranging from astronomy – zoology which support creation.

I have a degree in science, to me the creation model makes more sense than the evolutionary model.
So then, who or what “created” the creator?
The creator wasn’t created, otherwise He couldn’t be a creator, but a created.
Who or what created the matter for the Big Bang? Where did the energy come from to get it spinning, since energy hadn’t been created yet by the Big Bang? How did an explosion overcome the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics and create order and increasing complexity? How did the explosion create time, gravity, physical laws, chemicals and life?
Good way to dodge the question with sophistry. I will rephrase it then. What is the origin of this creator you speak of? Where did he/she/it/they come from? How did he/she/it/they come into being?
He is not created; He is eternal. He is the One who brought time, space, and matter into existence. Since the concept of causality deals with space, time, and matter and since God is the one who brought space, time, and matter into existence, the concept of causality does not apply to God since it is something related to the reality of space, time, and matter. Since God is before space, time, and matter, the issue of causality does not apply to Him.
Too bad people more will be exposed to this pseudoscience they call “creation science.” They teach lies like the Earth and the Universe were created at the same time 6,000 years ago and that the Grand Canyon is evidence for a worldwide flood. The people who work at The Institute For Creation Science are not scientists. They take an oath they must reject any evidence that does not support a literal interpretation of Genesis. That’s not science at all, it’s 100% religion and their “facts” are all wrong.
