SOUTHERN UTAH – The National Weather Service issued a “Flash Flood Warning” for east central Washington County and west central Kane County, effective 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
At 4 p.m., Doppler Radar indicated a thunderstorm producing heavy rain over the southern portion of Zion National Park.
Some locations that will experience flooding include North Creek, Little Creek and the north fork of the Virgin River. Current radar estimates rain falling at 0.5 to 0.75 inches per hour.
These rainfall rates are anticipated to cause flash flooding across the southern portion of Zion National Park.
As a precaution, the park tweeted that all slot canyons, including The Narrows, will be closed for the time being.
