Michael Buenning(June 14, 1960 – July 19, 2014)

Michael Hermann Buenning, 54 years old, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 in Tokyo, Japan. He was born to Hermann and Jeanette Ashton Buenning in Price, Utah on June 14, 1960. He was sealed to Waisum Ng Buenning for time and all eternity on April 23, 1985 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He is survived by his wife and five children: Jessica, Jason, Jasmine, Jacob, and Joseph; his parents; and his two younger sisters Michelle and Suzanne. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.

Michael graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese and a Master of Arts in International Relations. Later he obtained a Master of Business Administration in International Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. For nearly 30 years he worked in international business. Michael was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints his entire life. He was an Eagle Scout, served an honorable full-time mission in Hong Kong, served as the branch president of the Shanghai Branch in Shanghai, China for over six years, and was the first high councilman for the Church in China.

Funeral Services

  •  Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at the Washington Fields Stake Center, 1835 South Washington Fields Road, Washington, Utah.
  • Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Heideman Hughes Mortuary, 1037 East 700 South, St. George, Utah, 435-674-5000.
