HURRICANE — Washington County Drug Task Force arrested five people Tuesday morning after executing a search warrant for a vehicle and residence in Hurricane.
According to a probable cause statement filed by WDTF Officer Jason Jarvie, around 7:30 a.m., Penelope Fallon, 47, who was driving, Chad Devaughn, 41, and Amber Nicole Turney, 25, were pulled over on a traffic stop near Exit 8 on Interstate 15, and a search warrant for the vehicle and Fallon and Devaughn, who were both specifically listed on the warrant, was executed.
During the vehicle search a glass pipe with a crystal substance was found suspected to be methamphetamine. Fallon was also found driving on a denied license.
Also included on the search warrant was a residence located at 3875 W. 140 North in Hurricane. Upon searching the house, 18 firearms, that included pistols and rifles, were found — of them, 8 were listed as stolen firearms, according to the statement.
Devaughn and Fallon are both considered Category II restricted persons, meaning they are not allowed to be in possession of firearms. One of the firearms was found to have the face plate altered to remove the serial number, Jarvie wrote in the statement.
Investigators also located inside the house a distributable amount of crystal white substance and a leafy green substance, later testing positive for methamphetamine and marijuana. One of the firearms was located inside a safe with methamphetamine. In addition, a large quantity of prescription medications were found including Diazpam, Oxycodone, Alpazolam and Hydromorphine.
“These prescriptions were packaged in small ziploc style baggies for sale,” Jarvie said in his statement.
During a search of Turney’s room, investigators found a small baggy with a substance that tested positive for amphetamine and a green leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.
Jessica Ann Maraglia, 22, and Scott Joseph Silveira, 31, were inside the house at the time of the search and were seated next to a glass pipe with a white substance inside that tested positive for amphetamine.
Maraglia and Silveira admitted after given their Miranda Rights to having smoked from the pipe within the last 48 hours, according to the statement.
Devaughn, Fallon, Turney, Maraglia and Silveira were arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility.
Devaughn and Fallon were charged with eight second-degree felonies for stolen firearms; 10 third-degree felonies for possessing firearms as restricted persons; three second-degree felonies for possession of drugs with the intent to distribute; four third-degree felonies for possession of drugs with the intent to distribute; a class A misdemeanor for altering a serial number on a firearm; and a class B misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. According to bookings information Devaughn and Fallon’s current bail each stands at $100,000 cash only.
Turney was charged with a third-degree felony for possession of methamphetamine; two class B misdemeanors for possession of drug paraphernalia; and a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. According to bookings information Turney’s current bail stands at $7,040.
Maraglia and Silveira were charged with a third-degree felony for possession of methamphetamine and a class B misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. According to bookings information Maraglia and Sliveira’s current bail stands at $5,680.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

I was grateful to read an article where it wasn’t simply assumed that the possession of firearms was illegal. That’s uncommon in the media, generally, though perhaps St. George News is an exception. You included sufficient detail to explain why these particular people having these particular firearms was worthy of suspicion. Thank you.
No mention of Horse in this article. Horse is a term for Heroin, except in Hurricane, where horse is an animal some guy horsed around with. Horses are too worthy to be treated like that.
