HURRICANE – Two people were sent to the hospital in serious condition in unrelated incidents in Hurricane at roughly the same time Saturday night.
The first incident occurred in the Dixie Springs area at approximately 7 p.m., when a man fell off scaffolding while working in a garage, Hurricane City Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said. The man’s head impacted the concrete floor of the garage and he reportedly became unresponsive.
Hurricane Police and Hurricane Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, and after assessing the situation, Life Flight was called in. The man was airlifted to Dixie Regional Medical Center in serious condition.
Another accident occurred in the area of 3340 W. 400 North in Hurricane at about 7:20 p.m., when a teen riding a longboard fell off and hit his head. Though alert, he was listed as being in serious condition and was transported to DRMC by ambulance, Buell said.
It has not been specified at this time whether the teen was wearing a helmet.

Re the boy on 400N… alert? When I saw him he was lying in the middle of the street drifting in and out of consciousness, unresponsive to anything being said to him. At one point he got up and staggered to the sidewalk, but still was unresponsive to conversation. It took forever for even the police to arrive let alone an ambulance. Shame on Hurricane for having such slow emergency services. And kudos to the level headed teen who calmly was on the phone with 911 trying to get the boy some help.

Initially, I thought perhaps a horse got fed up with some guy taking privileges with it and kicked him in the head. Hope the boarder is okay.
