Alcohol suspected factor in rollover on Pioneer Parkway

Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in a single-vehicle rollover on Pioneer Parkway, Santa Clara, Utah, Sept. 22, 2014 | Photo by Mori Kessler, St. George News

SANTA CLARA – Police responded to a single vehicle rollover on Pioneer Parkway Monday that triggered a criminal investigation.

The rollover occurred around 6:20 p.m. in the area of 3200 W. Pioneer Parkway where the road dips into a wash. Santa Clara-Ivins Police Officer Chad Holt said witnesses saw a pickup truck traveling eastbound when it went in the westbound lane into oncoming traffic then swerved back into the eastbound lane and then left the roadway and ended up rolling into the wash.

The pickup’s occupants, an adult man and woman, were not injured in the rollover. Witnesses indicated the man was driving the truck, though Holt said the truck’s occupants weren’t being very cooperative with police on that point.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor, Holt said, which led to a criminal investigation at the scene. As the investigation was ongoing as of 7:30 p.m., Holt did not say if any citations had been issued.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact. This report is based on preliminary information provided by responders and others on scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Should stick with prescription drugs. That seems acceptable in Dixie.

Should have gone to Mesquite like all the others. Mesquite is to Utah as Bahrain is to Saudi. Look it up.

Mori, why are you not reporting the Injury accident involving a motorcycle at 100 South and 1200 East in St. George at approximately 3:00 PM on the 22nd. Are some accidents news worthy and others not?

Hi, I replied to your similar question elsewhere, but we are working on that story. Hoping to have an article up on Wednesday.

Alcohol suspected or confirmed? How many people in St George have been suspected of something which wasn’t true?

Apparently my comments are exceedingly rude or derogatory as they take forever to get approved before posting. I meant no offense to Mr. Kessler or Mr. Romney, I am just wondering about an injury accident which was not reported. The St. George News is the only reliable source of news in the area and I just want to know what happened? or did somebody just drop the ball on the motorcycle accident? Please respond either in comments or by e-mail.
I really do love your website.

Sometimes we hold off on approving a comment not because we’re ignoring someone but because we’re trying to find an answer for them. 🙂 We have a reporter who has been on that motorcycle accident story since it happened yesterday. There has been a sheriff’s association conference in town this week and it seems to have slowed response times for media requests. We’re hoping to have a story up about that accident tomorrow.
