CEDAR CITY — A 36-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, formerly married but now divorced, were taken into custody by Cedar City Police Thursday after admitting to theft and forgery.
Heidi Lynn Macy and Wallace Limb were arrested after Macy’s former mother-in-law, Limb’s mother, discovered $40,000 had been taken from her bank account.
On Aug. 27, Georgia Limb, of Riverton, Utah, discovered the money was missing and learned that her son Wallace Limb and his ex-wife, Macy, had forged at least 13 checks from her State Bank of Southern Utah checking account. Additional money was also taken from the account by Wallace Limb and Macy through ATM withdrawals, according to a probable cause statement filed by Cedar City Police Detective Timothy Bonzo in support of the arrests.
Georgia Limb, who currently resides in a care facility in Riverton, was using the funds to pay for her care.
“She is now in the process of trying to find other means to pay for her care,” Bonzo wrote in the statement.
Wallace Limb and Macy allegedly told staff members at the care center that Georgia Limb was in a care facility and didn’t need the money.
“None of the money spent by Wallace Limb and Heidi Macy benefited Georgia in anyway,” Bonzo wrote in the statement. “Wallace and Heidi both admitted to the care center staff that they had used the money for their own use.”
Wallace Limb and Macy were arrested and each charged with one second-degree felony for theft and 13 third-degree felonies for forgery. They were each booked into the Iron County Jail Thursday, where they remain incarcerated, according to bookings information obtained Tuesday. Wallace Limb’s bail stands at $40,000 and Macy’s at $25,000.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

The Esplin guy in Cedar recently got a plea deal for 1 year time in the county jail for embezzling $650,000 over NINE YEARS! So if these two are guilty of taking $40,000 in a short period of time, they should be able to get a deal of less than 1 month in jail! Although they probably aren’t buddies with the county Attorney ….or LDS…hmmm….
I don’t think this will affect their worthiness or recommend status. All is well…

If it’s prosecuted under elder abuse laws, the penalties are more severe. Unfortunately, the woman will have to prove that her son didn’t have permission to take the money. I’ve seen clear cases of exploitation that were never prosecuted because the people were able to get an elderly family member to either add them to an account, or name them as a financial power of attorney. Elderly people don’t like to discuss their finances with their children, leaving them ripe for exploitation. Payment for eldercare is often complicated by matters such as this. How dare they take money that probably was ear-marked for a church’s coffers and a church’s needs, such as millions of dollars to create political agendas such as Proposition 8.

This goes on everyday for seniors, it is called a Medicaid Spend Down. These 2 just did it without the person’s approval. The Government forces it’s Retirees to spend their life savings and inheritance so they can qualify for Medicaid which will then pay for Long Term Care. One is legal the other is not, does it make it right?

It is sad when members of the church decide to separate because one person is having issues living the standards of the church. Even sadder when sons are disowned for not serving a mission. This to me is not love. Did they not commit to be together regardless of circumstance? Each person is held accountable for there own actions not the actions of another. Even if he is excommunicated he can still go to church, he can still pray with his family, he can still love them and want to be the best father he can be. Each journey is an individual journey. Why hate someone because they aren’t doing it as fast as you would like them too? That is not love. 🙁
