Apple Festival in New Harmony; Great year for apples, great weather for a festival

NEW HARMONY—The New Harmony Apple Festival benefiting the volunteer fire department of New Harmony. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, at New Harmony Town Park

The apple festival is an annual event and a great place for the community to get together and bring out their apples and apple goodies and sell them.

There will be food, carnival games, rock wall, mechanical bull, vendors from local businesses, bake sale and the famous New Harmony apples.

The goal for this year’s event will be to raise enough money for the Harmony Valley Volunteer Fire Association to buy three laptop computers to be placed in the fire trucks. The laptops will be loaded with GPS, maps, dispatch software, and report software.

Scheduled contests include a pie eating contest and raffle with prizes including gift cards, a dutch oven, a cooler, and 1,000 rounds of 22 LR ammo, to name a few. The state fire marshal’s life safety trailer will be there to teach kids about fire safety in the home

All kinds of vendors will be in attendance selling anything from knives and jewelry to clothes and homemade crafts.

Weather is always a factor, but this year has been a great year for apples.

The Harmony Valley Fire District is the first responder agency for fire and rescue that covers 40 square miles, including eight miles of Interstate 15, staffed 100 percent by volunteers out of two stations.

The goal of the fire district is always to provide a high level of service to the community. The fire district is always glad and thankful for any donations.

The Harmony Valley Volunteer Fire Association and the Harmony Valley Fire District would like to extend and huge thanks to all those that have supported it, past, present, and future supporters.
