ST. GEORGE — The day after Thanksgiving, the Christmas season will be welcomed in at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints St. George Temple during the annual temple lighting ceremony. Thousands of lights will illuminate the temple grounds; the life-size, narrated Nativity scene will be set up for visitors to view and hear throughout the Christmas season; and a short program will be offered. Community members are invited to join in the celebration.
Volunteers have been working hard to hang thousands of lights around the grounds in preparation for the spectacular sight.
The 30-minute outdoor program will take place on one the temple’s front stairways and will include multiple speakers and a performance by the Tuacahn High School choir. There will be musical numbers and an opening prayer, followed by the lighting ceremony.
The program will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the lighting ceremony will take place at approximately 6 p.m.
This year, there will be added seating to accommodate increased attendance numbers; 500 chairs will be set up for attendees, whereas in past years only 100 seats have been available.
This annual event is hosted by the Temple Visitor’s Center in celebration of the birth of Christ.

I am so excited about the lighting ceremony tomorrow. I love the feeling of just being on the temple grounds at any time of year and Christmas time with the lights and music accentuates that special experience.
Thanks to all the volunteers who work on this event in any way!! I appreciate you!!
I like the Nativity scene with Mr & Mrs Santa Claus with the elves surrounded by his reindeer.
Hey KOOLAID. They are not putting up a nativity scene in Washington. DC because they can’t find 3 wise men and a virgin
