Wanted man leads officers on chase through St. George neighborhood

ST. GEORGE – St. George Police officers pursued a man with known gang ties through a St. George neighborhood Saturday morning after the man fled for the second time from officers who were attempting to arrest him.

Thursday night, the St. George Police Department’s gang unit, along with responders from the U.S. Marshal Service and Adult Probation and Parole, arrived in the Green Valley area of St. George in an attempt to make contact with Aaron Michael Hukill, of St. George, who was wanted on a no-bail warrant for absconding from parole, said St. George Police Sgt. Johnny Heppler, who supervises the Fraudulent Identity and Securities Threat Unit, more commonly known as the gang unit. The gang unit responded on the warrant arrest because Hukill is a documented member of the Bloods gang; he belonged to a Bloods gang set that originated in the Green Valley area of St. George in approximately 2006, Heppler said.

“Since the arrest of several of the gang’s most prominent members, the gang has been inactive for a few years,” he said.

Hukill remains a documented Blood, and his criminal record includes an assault charge in 2012; a riot charge in 2011; drug possession in 2011; and felony drug charges in 2010 that included drug distribution and drug possession, according to court records. He has been on parole after serving jail time.

When the gang unit arrived at his home Thursday night, Hukill evaded officers, leaving the home through the back door. Officers were unable to apprehend him.

“He fled as we were arriving,” Heppler said.

On Saturday morning, the St. George Police Department received an anonymous tip regarding Hukill’s whereabouts. Because he had already fled Thursday, multiple police responders arrived to apprehend him Saturday, anticipating that he might run again, which he did.

“He ran from the police,” Heppler said. “They told him stop because he was wanted. They told him he was under arrest, and he took off running.”

Officers pursued Hukill on foot through a neighborhood in the Green Valley area of St. George, setting up a perimeter within a couple of blocks in an effort to detain him, St. George Police Lt. Joseph Hartman said. Officers were able to apprehend Hukill within about 30 minutes after they had responded to the area to bring him into custody, Hartman said.

Hukill was arrested and transported to the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility. In addition to the no-bail warrant, he was booked on two new class A misdemeanor charges for failure to stop at an officer’s command and two class B misdemeanors for trespassing, due to the fact that he infringed on private property while running from police, Heppler said.

Hukill’s required bond for the new charges stands at $5,260, according to current bookings information at the time of this report.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Well shoot! It appears that Mayberry is really changing. Where is Aunt Bea and Andy now?

    • Ozark Rumrunner December 21, 2014 at 9:25 pm

Well Opie aka the evil twit that lives in his mommy’s basement.. It seems your the only one without a life.. Mayberry has moved on in life. Evidently you haven’t… But then I’m not surprised by your comment considering you lied about Habitat for Humanity. Once a liar always a liar

Well Opie, aka Evil Twit, Aunt Bea and Andy have a life, unlike you, in your Mommy’s basement. It’s great that there are people in this world who can help take care of the bad stuff that happens every day, risking their lives. I’m talking about the Police departments, Sheriff departments, Highway Patrol officers, and all the Emergency Medical people. Thank you for all you do. I am grateful for the brave people who take on these jobs, and everyone else should be also. Merry Christmas to all.

Careful there ZonkerB, you are giving Ozark folks a bad rap, when you refer to yourself as an Ozark Rumrunner. At least most of those Ozark folks have a brain, which is more than can be said for you.
Now why don’t you and your little friend Smelly Shelly just run along and play.

You need the behave or I’ll take your Barbie doll away from you and stop telling lies about Habitat for Humanity

    • Shelly December 22, 2014 at 10:09 am

I forgot to mention the members of the Fire Departments and Search and Rescue groups. Many of these fine people are volunteers. Thanks for all you do, and Merry Christmas to all.

Give us details when it comes to safety in our neighborhood. What address did this guy live at? What area did he run through? Were any bystanders endangered? Be specific. Thank goodness he is in jail. May he stay there.

    • Momz December 22, 2014 at 8:57 am

Well Steve, the article did say the Green Valley Area. No one was endangered. He is not a gang member nor does he have a history of any violent crimes. Simple assault may be an act of violence to you, but young men fight all the time. That riot charge is untrue and was dropped due to lack of evidence, CUZ HE WASN’T THERE. And no, he won’t be there long. So may your nosey hating self have a very merry Christmas, knowing one more BLACK child has been screwed by this state, yet once again. Hardly a reason for these jerk’s to treat him like a murderer. Oh yeah, I wonder what type of comment you said about the guy from Laverkin who beat his friend to death with a tree branch and received 2 years…. HMMMM. Did he get what he deserved? So many people in this town are so quick to judge.

      • My Evil Twin December 22, 2014 at 9:11 am

A perfectly innocent “li’l black boy” who has been framed by “the man.” You would be laughable, if you weren’t so sad.

        • Evil twins mommy December 22, 2014 at 11:01 am

The only sad thing here is you and you negative and ignorant comments you always make about other people not to mention the lie you got caught telling about Habitat for Humanity

  • sagemoon December 22, 2014 at 8:33 am

Dang punk. He’s back where he belongs.

    • Momz December 22, 2014 at 9:01 am

Do people in St. George ever quit judging? I know the bible says for y’all perfect Christian people not to judge, yet that’s what 97% of people in this town do. I call BS on every one of you. I bet everyone in your family/friends circle is absolutely perfect, huh? DOUBT IT!

      • My Evil Twin December 22, 2014 at 9:10 am

Geeze, Momz, sounds like somebody struck a nerve when referring to this gang banging punk as a gang banging punk. Let’s see here, he has a no bail warrant because he was too stupid to fulfill his parole obligations. He’s a member of one of the most violent black gangs there is. He ran from the cops twice on this.
Yeah, he does seem like you average clean cut American youth. SHEESH what losers both you and your son are. Now THAT is my judgement. Like it or not.

      • sagemoon December 22, 2014 at 9:21 am

I’m not Christian and I call it as I see it. It’s human nature to judge others. If he doesn’t want the judgement of his peers, he should stay clear of law violations and people who commit law violations.

      • Limpd December 22, 2014 at 11:45 am

Yes, you are right..I have 2 brother in laws who have had experience with the drugs, theft, and violence. And they are white. One is still pretty much not a contributor, but a detractor of society. A crappy dad. Complains about us being slaves to society. One has changed completely. But still…..my children are not allowed at the home alone with either. Choices they made in their past is what I am required to use as a parent to protect my children. Most people here have family memebers who arent’ perfect. It doesn’t mean we “judge” them. We do still love them. But it is what helps us use “judgement” to protect ourselves and our children. Would I ever give either one a key to my home to watch it while we are away? Never. As I wouldn’t your son either.

  • Limpd December 22, 2014 at 9:55 am

MOMZ….sounds like you should have raised a better son. That time is gone now. Whenever there were rumors about me as a youth…my parents ALWAYS blamed me first…and then found out the facts. Reprimanded and punished me as they saw fit. 90% of the time I was not at fault, but they judged me first. Not society. SO grow up and let your kid grow up too. As for wanting to know where this kid went…I wondered the same thing. I live in Green Valley. Are my kids safe while I am at work? Is the babysitter freaking out because cops are around our house? I mean, we have the right to want to know if this chaos has erupted by our own home near our own innocent little ones. As for your kid, sounds like he’s not so innocent and your parenthood has been pretty dismal. At least now you will know where he is. Cops are not here to raise your kids. THey are here to protect us from those kids who had shi* parenting. Move along.

It’s Obama’s fault….. and he’s going to take your guns.
