WASHINGTON CITY – A two-car collision on Telegraph Street resulted in one man going to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
Washington City Police responded to the report of a car accident at the intersection of Washington Parkway and Telegraph Street around 4 p.m. Thursday, Ed Kantor, WCPD public information officer, said.
A silver 2001 Toyota Corolla was heading westbound on Telegraph Street when it collided with a 2014 Honda Civic traveling southbound through the intersection from Washington Parkway. Kantor said the Honda’s driver was heading for a dirt parking lot on the south side of the intersection.
The driver of the Corolla, a 68-year male, had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by a private party, Kantor said. The driver of the Civic, also a 68-year-old male, was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic. The Civic’s driver did not appear to have been injured in the accident.
The crash rendered both cars inoperable, and they were both towed from the scene. Traffic at the intersection was disrupted for about 45 minutes as the accident was investigated and eventually cleared.
Both the Washington City Police and Fire departments responded to the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
