Stewart: ‘ISIL is the epitome of evil’

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Chris Stewart, a member of the House Intelligence Committee and a former Air Force B-1 bomber pilot, released the following statement after the White House sent Congress a war powers authorization request to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant:

If you believe, as I do, that ISIL is the epitome of evil and a clear threat to U.S. Strategic interest, then we must be willing to do whatever is necessary to destroy it. That includes giving our armed forces whatever authorization is necessary to accomplish this mission. In my position on the Intelligence Committee, I am reminded again and again of the President’s hesitation to seriously engage in this cause.

“I’d like the President to explain his strategy to defeat the growing ISIL threat. So far, he hasn’t done this,” Stewart said. “I hope the discussion in Congress over his request for authorization will move forward this very important debate.”

The White House’s request comes just a day after ISIL confirmed the tragic death of American hostage Kayla Mueller and just a week after the gruesome death of the Jordanian pilot.

As a former military officer and a member of the House Intelligence Committee, Stewart is a leader in national security policy.

    “IS is evil”

Thanks for taking the tough stance that one else dares take congressman.

Congressman Stewart is highlighting Obama’s “…hesitation to seriously engage in this cause,” not his own stance on ISIL. Obama’s feckless foreign policy continues with his wishy washy proposed war powers resolution that defines in detail what we won’t do and sets a withdrawal date: that ought to frighten ISIL. Obama withdrew all our forces from Iraq in 2010 and is withdrawing all our forces in Afghanistan. Surprise, ISIL and the Taliban are resurgent: who’d a thunk it? But at least he drew a clear line by threatening Syria’s use of chemical weapons and declaring Assad must go. Oops, now we’re on Assad’s side. Obama is worse than Jimmy Carter and that’s quite an accomplishment.

Oh, please. Many people are aware that ISIS/ISIL is evil and want it stopped. The President has asked for authority to move forward against them. But a lot of people are also tired of more than ten years of war in which the US has been engaged and Americans killed thanks to George Bush and his minions. Caution about further involvement is understandable.

Perhaps Mr.Stewart would volunteer to lead any US ground troops sent over there. Politicians should put their personal lives where their mouths are when it comes to war.

This administration has a habitual problem of not calling a spade a spade. For instance, is there any normal American that really thinks the Fort Hood shooting was just “workplace violence” and not “terrorism”? The motive and means matter, and calling it something else with your head in the sand doesn’t change reality. The same has happened over and over and over. All Stewart is doing is saying “let’s call a spade a spade and act accordingly”. Unfortunately that line of thinking, which should be common sense, really is necessary in our politically correct BS climate. And don’t forget, Christ Stewart served in the Air Force for 14 years, so I’ll take his word over Command-in-Panties any day of the week. King Girly Bike has been on the wrong side of every single solitary foreign affairs issue since taking office. From Benghazi to Syria this guy can screw up anything. Unfortunately it isn’t an issue of competence, it’s an issue of world view and allegiance.

Nobody home, maybe Obama is bringing congress into the fray so he can blame them if things go wrong. That way he can preserve his perpetual bad judgement.

Mess of a man, judgment no worse than yours…
