ST. GEORGE – A man was sent to the hospital Thursday morning after sustaining serious injuries when his car collided with the side of a trailer home on Dixie Downs Drive in St. George.
Around 7:40 a.m., St. George Police and other agencies were dispatched to the Canyon View Mobile Home Park at 1450 N. Dixie Downs Drive where a car had jumped the curb and crashed into the side of a mobile home, wedging the front of the car underneath it.
“The car came straight down 1465 North eastbound (across the street), went across Dixie Downs Drive at a high rate of speed and impacted the trailer and pushed the trailer about two feet off it’s foundation,” Sgt. Craig Harding.
The driver, a 30-year-old male, according to a statement released by police following the accident, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. He was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George by ambulance in serious condition.
The police are not sure exactly what factors contributed to the accident, Harding said. They were questioning the driver, but that was put on hold when he was taken to the hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance.
An accident investigations team will be at the scene to help determine the cause behind the crash, Harding said.
Charges may be filed in this case pending the completion of the investigation.
The mobile home owner was not home when the crash occurred, and no other injuries were reported.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
