The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m., as a woman in a white pickup truck was traveling on 170 South.

“Basically, she spilled a drink in her car and reached down to pick it up, clean it up, and (was) still driving, and hit the rocks,” St. George Police Sgt. Rich Triplett said.

The truck crashed into some landscaping, which caused the vehicle to flip onto its side. Responders had to help the woman get out of the vehicle.

The woman was complaining of shoulder pain following the accident and was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center as a precaution. She had “no significant or visible injuries,” Triplett said.

The truck had to be towed from the scene.

It took responders about an hour to clean up the accident scene. There was no damage to the landscaping.

“Just her vehicle was the only property damage,” Triplett said.

The woman was cited for careless driving.

“We would just encourage people to concentrate on driving and avoid any other distractions in the vehicle, whether it be phones or beverages or food,” Triplett said.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
