ST. GEORGE — Police cited a woman for careless driving Tuesday after she drove through a brick wall and into the living room of a home in St. George.
The 38-year-old driver of a silver Suzuki SX4 was driving southbound on Dixie Drive when, she told officers, she leaned down to change the station on the radio and became dizzy, St. George Police Sgt. Dave Williams said.
“At that moment, she said that she’s not sure what happened,” Williams said. “… She claims she got a little bit dizzy.”
The vehicle ended up cutting across three lanes of travel, hitting a curb and going airborne, crashing through a chain that was blocking off an RV storage lot.
The woman then accelerated through the RV lot and crashed through a brick wall.
“She said when it all kind of exploded up in her face she must have hit the accelerator,” Williams said.
The vehicle crashed into a home on the other side of the brick wall, coming to a stop in the living room of the house.
The only person in the home was an elderly woman, Williams said, but she told police that just three minutes earlier there had been children in the living room.
No one was injured in the accident, and no other vehicles were impacted when the Suzuki crossed the travel lanes.
“She did not collide with any other vehicles, luckily,” Williams said.
Gold Cross Ambulance responders checked the driver for injuries but did not find any, and the driver refused ambulance transport to the hospital.
Williams said the driver told police she had been wearing a seat belt, and he said he believed she had been, considering the extent of the damage to the Suzuki.
Both airbags were deployed on the vehicle, and the Suzuki was completely disabled and had to be removed from the scene by tow truck.
Besides damage to the vehicle, there was extensive damage to the home, and members of the St. George Fire Department were on scene to check if the house was structurally sound and to inspect for possible hazards from gas lines and other utilities.
It appeared from preliminary inspection that there were no hazards or risks in that regard, Williams said.
There was also damage to the chain and brick wall, which were part of an RV storage lot owned by the neighborhood’s homeowners association.
In such an incident, officers always check for possible DUI, Williams said, but there were no indications that alcohol had been a factor in this accident.
The driver of the Suzuki will be cited for careless driving.
“Careless driving is when you are distracted by something in the car and commit a traffic violation,” Williams said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Just wondering to myself and possibly speculating,, Was this ‘Dizzy dame’ any chance a blonde ?
LOL, NOTSOFAST. I was going to ask the same thing. I want to know if she is a blonde! Someone, please confirm hair color.
How awkward would that be to crash into someone’s living room, then have to get out of your car and be standing in some poor, terrified, pissed off persons living room?
Haters always gonna hate. This was my sister, and I’m so grateful my family is not planning a funeral right now….. or anyone else’s family too. For the record, she is not a blonde, nor was she texting, drinking, or on pills. She has recently had an MRI and we are concerned she has some medical issues as she has gotten dizzy and passed out a few times and fallen in her home…….standing up too quickly or looking to the side and back too quickly. This hasn’t happened before while she was sitting in a car driving, and now that it has, she won’t be driving again until the doctors are able to figure out and help with what she is going through. Again, grateful she or anyone else did not get hurt.
Aw, I didn’t mean to offend you. If she had been blonde, it would have made a scary situation kind of funny. I’m glad to hear she is okay and hope her medical problems get resolved quickly.
Are You Serious, I’m sorry my stupid comment about maybe a blonde upset you.
I’m not a hater, just a bored goof throwing out junk comments.
We hope your sister & doctor get to the bottom of her condition soon. Tell your sister a lot of neighbors are pulling for her just like her sister is.
And tell her to think twice about ever dying her hair blonde. i.e. stay away from the blonde hair dye special ads.
Haters? Poorly timed jokes and everyone is a hater? Calm down and take some responsibility for the fact that your sister should not have been driving based on your own explanation of the crash. A condition so chronic that it required an MRI and she is driving across 3 lanes and going airborne into a house. Glad nobody was hurt but haters always hate? The only thing I hate is the fact that someone who was not physically safe to drive was jeopardizing other’s safety. Now, you can call me a hater and I didn’t even tell a blonde joke.
I know your sister. It seems she has been through a lot lately. Getting arrested in Texas for stealing and getting put in jail for a DUI most recently. When was that? Two weeks ago? She is not blonde. She just needs help.
She has gotten dizzy and fallen down recently and still chose to drive. You know, on some medication labels, they say may cause dizziness, do not operate machinery ( or something like that) so to anybody who gets dizzy spells and especially to the extreme of an MRI, do not operate a vehicle. Use caution. Maybe we can prevent the next dizzy driver. Glad your sister is okay.
(Some people just don’t “get it”.)
