WASHINGTON COUNTY — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office released dramatic dashcam footage Monday of a high-speed chase through three Washington County towns Sunday which culminated in the fleeing suspect crashing into one of the very people he was fleeing from – a responding Hurricane City Police officer.

The chase began around 4:30 a.m. when a Sheriff’s deputy noticed 32-year-old Michael Ryan Dalby, of Bluffdale, speeding through Toquerville in a 2014 Dodge Charger reported stolen out of Salt Lake City five days prior.
The deputy gave chase and the Charger sped away, reaching speeds of around 100 mph.
The high-speed chase continued on through Toquerville, LaVerkin and Hurricane with Dalby driving recklessly and running stop signs and lights along the way.
As Dalby came speeding through the intersection of 100 South and Main Street in Hurricane, he collided with a Hurricane City Police officer’s Ford F-150 police truck.
Both Dalby and the officer were transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George for medical clearance. While no serious injuries were reported, the crash caused major damage to the police truck.
Dalby was arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility.
He was charged with a second-degree felony for theft by receiving stolen property, two third-degree felonies for failure to respond to officers signal to stop and drug possession, two class A misdemeanors for DUI and DUI with personal injury, along with two class B misdemeanors for reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dalby made his initial court appearance Monday afternoon.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
