ST. GEORGE — The Dixie Flyers bounced back from their opening loss with a convincing 56-10 win over the visiting Mohave Thunderbirds Friday night on the new turf at Walt Brooks Stadium.
The team from Bullhead City, Ariz., had no answer for Tre Miller, who continued to impress with a career-night, gaining 208 yards on 17 carries, scoring twice.
The Dixie offense put up 49 points and 432 yards in the 56-10 romp. Daniel Tuitavuki’s pick-six from 55 yards out capped the Flyers scoring.
Miller, the senior running back who rushed for nearly 1,500 yards last season, has over 300 in two games so far in 2015. He averaged better than 12 yards a carry this week.
But it was far from a one-man show as Zak Harrah played well in his second start at quarterback, passing for 167 yards and three TDs and also rushing for a 21-yard score.
The Dixie defense also played well, allowing just 111 yards to the T-Birds.
The soup gets a lot thicker next week as the Flyers, 1-1, host 4A power Alta next Friday night. The Hawks are 2-0 with wins over Cyprus and Hiillcrest.
