ST. GEORGE — Crowds of runners, volunteers and supporters filled the Dixie Convention Center Friday for the Altra Zero Drop Fitness Expo as part of the 39th annual St. George Marathon.
The expo served as both packet pickup for runners set to toe the line in Saturday’s 26.2-mile race as well as an opportunity for businesses in the active and health and wellness fields to share their products and upcoming races.
The energy in the building was palpable as runners got their bib numbers and race shirts as well as lined up to buy last minute race day essentials and souvenirs.
The St. George Marathon hosts over 7,000 runners from all over the world. It is widely acclaimed as one of the most organized races in the country. In addition to its incredible scenery, the marathon is also well-known for being a downhill course where many runners attempt to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon.
In the accompanying video top of this report, St. George News talked with a few of the runners at the expo to find out how they were feeling and what draws them to this race.
