WASHINGTON CITY — Authorities confirmed Thursday that a man seriously injured Wednesday night while riding a modified tricycle down a trail in Washington City has died.
The man, identified as 21-year-old Zachary Hunter Lusk, was pronounced dead at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George following the accident, Washington City Fire Chief Brent Hafen confirmed Thursday.
Lusk was transported to the hospital via Life Flight helicopter around 6 p.m. Wednesday after the children’s tricycle that had been heavily-modified with large tires that he was riding down a steep hill, overturned, throwing Lusk head first into a group of rocks.
Responders were able to move Lusk to a location where the helicopter could land. He was admitted to the hospital with major head trauma, where he later died.
No other details about Lusk’s death were immediately available.
According to Lusk’s Facebook page, Lusk graduated from Pine View High School in 2013 and was studying economics at the University of Utah.
Utah Sen. Jim Dabakis posted the following comment about Lusk on his Facebook page:
RIP dear Zachary Lusk, forever 20. I have never met a finer young man. Zachary, I would have been proud to call you my son. Zack was to be my intern for the Session. He was producing my TV show. At Eccles School at the U of U, he was loved. How can this be?
This is not the first tragedy to befall the Lusk family. Lusk’s mother and avid marathon runner, Terri Lusk, died from injuries she sustained when she was hit by a truck in July 2014 while running with a friend along the shoulder of Red Hills Parkway in St. George.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Oh well he did it to himself…..there’s a price for being stupid. !
Head trauma becomes unfunny when the person dies. Blessings for his family.
Stupid is as stupid does
This is one of those moments to quit with the jokes and just shut up. The more you say, the more you are making yourself look stupid.
Life is hard . its harder if your stupid !
I can’t help but wonder how much time was spent modifying a child’s tricycle that would ultimately kill him. Too bad he didn’t invest this time doing something worthwhile. Hopefully, his friends that accompanied him in this adventure have learned a valuable lesson.
