CEDAR CITY — An accident at the intersection of Minersville Highway and Old Highway 91 sent one man to the hospital Monday with minor injuries, authorities said.
Officer Clint Pollock of the Cedar City Police Department said the two-vehicle accident happened between an SUV and a Ford Mustang at approximately 4 p.m.
At the time, the Mustang was heading east on Old Highway 91 through a green light at Minersville Highway. The SUV entered the intersection from the opposite side of the intersection heading west, then turned left in front of the Mustang, cutting it off.
Gold Cross Ambulance transported the driver of the SUV to Cedar City Hospital for what was believed to be minor injuries, Pollock said. A family member of the SUV driver who was at the scene told St. George News the driver was complaining of back pain.
The driver of the Mustang did not suffer any injuries but said she was pretty shaken up by the incident.
Authorities found the driver of the SUV to be at fault and cited him for failure to yield.
“She was headed straight and he was turning. He admitted that he thought he could make the turn so he went and she came through the light and crashed into him,” he said.
Names of the drivers were not released.
