ST. GEORGE — A St. George man arrested Friday is facing two first-degree felony counts of drug possession with the intent to distribute.

Police executed a search warrant at the residence of Rene Adrian Quintanar on the 1400 East block of 1850 South, according to a probable cause statement filed by the St. George Police Department in support of the arrest.

During the search, authorities allegedly located heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia, according to the statement.

Quintanar was located in the residence at the time the search warrant was executed and was arrested and transported to the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility.

At the jail, authorities located two yellow-colored bags containing heroin and methamphetamine on Quintanar, according to the probable cause statement.

“The amounts were a large amount consistent with that of a distributable amount,” the arresting officer wrote in the report. “A large amount of cash was also found on Rene at the time he was arrested.”

During a secondary search, a knife was collected from Quintanar’s waistband, the report stated.

Quintanar was charged with two counts of first-degree felony drug possession with the intent to distribute, a third-degree felony for possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor for possession of a dangerous weapon and a class B misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia possession.

Quintanar was released from custody Tuesday on $25,000 bail pending trial.

Quintanar is scheduled to appear before 5th District Judge Eric Ludlow for his initial court appearance Monday afternoon.

According to Utah Court documents, Quintanar has an extensive criminal history, including a March 3 arrest in which he is facing first-degree and second-degree felony charges for drug possession with the intent to distribute, among other lesser charges.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
