ST. GEORGE — The Desert Hills High School Latinos in Action club is holding a fundraising event Saturday to benefit the family of Lenae Smith, who died in an ATV crash March 10.

Club members are holding the fundraiser at the Jump Jump Party Supplies & Rental store located in the Kmart Plaza, 815 S. Bluff Street, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. All proceeds will go to Lenae’s husband, Derrick Smith, a Desert Hills High School teacher, and the couple’s four children.

Lenae Smith, 36 of St. George, was riding an ATV near Navajo Drive, west of Bloomington, when a call came in to the St. George Police Department about a woman who had crashed on her four wheeler.

CPR was being performed when St. George Police arrived on scene. Medical personnel from Gold Cross Ambulance and Life Flight took over once once they arrived and continued to perform CPR. Despite all life-saving efforts, Lenae Smith died about 40 minutes after the crash.

Saturday’s fundraiser includes bounce houses, a water-slide, free popcorn and cotton candy, along with games and face painting provided by the Latinos in Action club. Along with the funds collected through donations and snack purchases, Jump Jump Party Supplies & Rentals will donate 10 percent of all sales made that day to the Smith family.

A mother of 4 should be more careful. Speeding around in a 4 wheeler is risk free.

That’s disgusting a mother of 4 passes away and her family is devastated and someone comes in and attacks her for what she did or didn’t do. It’s amazing how ignorant people can be. sympathy to the family and the children who’s life have been so dramatically altered

Oh please, dotboy. YOUR charade of compassion is so fake.
Outlaw ATVs and this couldn’t have happened. At least some common sense ATV laws.
