John Henry Von Ohlen passed away May 26, 2016, at his home in St. George, Utah.
John is survived by his wife, Mari Ann, and his children; Kathy Gonzales, Bill (Sonja) Von Ohlen and Patrice (Jerry) Fuchs, as well as his sister, Karen (Bill) Grunst, his grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
John was born on July 11, 1934, in Mason City, Iowa, to Edward & Lillian Von Ohlen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Russell Von Ohlen.
John served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. Following his service in the military he received a degree in mechanical engineering and spent his entire career working for IBM. John was a Senior Engineering Manager and received an Excellence Award for his management role in the development of the floppy disk.
Funeral Services
- A Memorial Mass will be held at St. George Catholic Church on Friday, June 3, 2016, at 10 a.m.
